Armand's Antique Trunks -Fine Trunks since 1993

SOLD
To a really nice couple right here in Ottawa

Bayou Country
Circa 1880's

It's not real alligator skin but you wouldn't know it just looking at it.

Embossed tin came in all sorts of patterns but the most interesting is by far the alligator skin. I was able to match the original color almost perfect and with all it's original hardware intact, this trunk now looks like it would have looked  in the 1880s.

The oak slats were striped and refinished to perfection. To maintain the beauty of this trunk for many many years, all it needs is a little wax polish once a year on the wood and metal.

A centerpiece in any room in your home

The interior was finished in dark green and a new three compartment tray has been added.

Who in the 1880's would have owned a trunk like this. Here are a few tidbits of what was happening in 1880.

-1881- The year of the last cattle drive to Dodge City

- 1881- The legendary outlaw Billy the Kid is finally brought to justice by Sheriff Pat  Garrett with a single bullet.

- 1881- In Tombstone Arizona, Deputy Marshall Wyatt Earp and his brothers gun down the Clantons in a shoot-out at the O.K. Coral.

-1882- Jesse James,  a veteran of Quantrill’s Raiders during the Civil War, is shot in the back by Robert Ford, a kinsman who hoped to collect a $5,000 reward.
